Boxed Pincushions by Domoshar

Domoshar is one of Quiltsy's European members and she has quite an impressive selection of items in her Etsy shop. One of my favorites is her flower pincushions which come gift boxed in a handmade origami box. The pincushion comes accented with a cute little button, too. I just love this as a gift idea for a sewing enthusiast (I think that includes all of us Quiltsy members)! Domoshar also makes stuffed owls and dolls, potholders, quilts, bibs, coasters, oven mitts, cards, quilted fabric baskets, credit card holders, tissue holders and many other great goodies. Definitely a litte of something for everyone.

Batik Potholders by DebiDesigns

DebiDesigns has such wonderful goodies in her Etsy shop, one of which is this gorgeous set of potholders that she lovingly pieced and quilted with some lovely batik fabrics. I just love the cotton candy colors! These would make a great gift for the holidays. But if you're looking for a more unique gift, Debi also makes hand beaded clay butterfly fairies, adorable Raggedy Ann dolls, fiber art ACEO pieces, beaded pendant chokers, quilted pillow covers, pincushions and
even a beautiful quilt or two. Check out DebiDesigns' Etsy shop!

Heirloom Hand Quilting by CottontailQuilts

Though machine quilting is very popular these days there are those of us who still do hand quilting and it is my pleasure to feature one today. CottontailQuilts does lovely hand quilting, and has several custom items featuring this art in her shop. Just take a look at the lovely precise stitching she does! The design itself is one that she has created inspired by Native American beading designs. She also uses traditional quilting motifs. It is a wholecloth quilt, meaning that the top is not pieced, the entire design is done in the quilting. This quilt would be a gift that would be treasured for generations. It takes a lot of time to make a quilt as beautifully quilted as this one, and is definitely worth the cost. Take a few minutes to browse her shop and see more lovely quilted items - CottontailQuilts.

The Megan Bag by SandmanQuilts

This is a gorgeous little bag by SandmanQuilts. I just love the Zinnia Garden fabric she used from the Bee's and the Bird's collection. The beautiful glass button adds the perfect touch. This bag would be perfect for a short shopping excursion or for those who don't like to carry a large bag. Even though it's small, this bag isn't short on organization; there are three pockets on the inside for storing all your littles. Check out SandmanQuilts on Etsy, she has a lot of other great goodies, too.

A Little Sunshine From FabricElements

Maybe it's the rainy Orgon weather, but when I took a peek in FabricElements shop today, this little beauty caught my eye! The lovely Hawaiian quiting design immediately made me think of warm tropical breezes and vacation time - a great pick me up for this time of year. I love the lining fabric, too, very feminine and pretty. Hint, hint, I wouldn't mind finding this under the tree come Christmas time! Going Green with Quiltsy and River Edge Designs

Riveredge says: "This is one of my 'on going green projects'. I save any scrap that can be cut into a 1 1/2" by 3 1/2" strips. Those many strips then become a quilt! "

Well, with good quality cotton fabric running around $10.00 a yard in the USA, being eco-friendly just makes great sense, and cents!

This is a beautiful example of her scraps - 51" x 62" - called Gardeners Lap Quilt. It will keep you warm on that very cold evening. It will also look great draped over the back of a chair or sofa when you aren't using it.

For Art Quilts, herbal wraps, and more scrap quilts, be sure to check out her Etsy shop:

Pure Handmade Throw Quilt

Each time I looked in the QuiltPetaler shop I keep being drawn back to this quilt. I think it was because of the warm tones of the brown and blue combinations which is one of my favorites.
She used fabric from Moda called Pure on the both the front and as a backing. This quilt is machine pieced and quilted and is an original design by the quilter. This would make a great throw to keep you warm on those cold winter nights. Since we are approaching the holiday season remembers also as a great gift. You can see this quilt and more from her collection at QuiltPetaler.etsy.com.

Cathedral Window by MamaRabbitsWorkshop

I am absolutely awed by cathedral windows, probably because this is something I remember my mom doing as a child and a skill that I don't have. It's tedious and time consuming, but the results are absolutely stunning as you can see in this beautiful Cathedral Window pillow by MamaRabbitsWorkshop. Completely cut and sewn by hand, you can imagine the love that went in to this item. And if you think that's amazing, she has a complete queen sized quilt in her Etsy shop that took six months to create! Check it out, it's gorgeous!

Spring Delight Purse by UniquelyNancy

UniquelyNancy is an extremely talented quilter and fabric artisan and creates many, many gorgeous goodies for her Etsy shop, but I love this particular piece as an example of her great talents. I know it's not spring, but I love this purse and would proudly wear it all year long! I adore her use of colors and fabrics here, and the addition of the appliqued flowers is just brilliant. The handmade piping adds a professional touch and the unique use of shape in the purse flap puts Nancy leaps and bounds above other purse makers. The crowning touch is the gorgeous little button that adds the perfect bit of character to finish off the purse. Nancy doesn't know it yet, but she's a role model of mine; someone I look up to and hope to achieve her level of mastery in sewing skills one day. Upcycled Rag Rug by Bonbonsandmore

Bonbonsandmore has so many great items in her Etsy shop, but I chose to feature this Crocheted Rag Rug for several reasons. First, I just love crocheted pieces. Second, I think it's fabulous that this rag rug is made from upcycled bedsheets. Upcycling is a great way to help save items that may not be usable for their intended purposes any more, or to give an older item a sort of makeover in to something beautiful and useful again. Third, this rag rug is gorgeous! The colors are beautiful and would create such a cheerful tone to any room you add this to. Bonbonsandmore has a full shop that includes quilts, potholders, wallhangings, crazy patchwork pin cushions, pillow covers, appliqued hand towels, napkins, tote bags, bibs, fabric collage items, throw pillows, clothing, and even a few vintage items. A multi-talented artist for sure! Check out her shop, you won't be disappointed.

Apple a Day

An apple a day keeps the doctor a day, and with this little apple button embellished pincushion you won't lose your needle and find it with your toe! Colors of Christmas by NeedleLove2

This is a gorgeous quilt by
NeedleLove2 that she calls "Colors of Christmas." The patchwork pattern and Christmas colors are both traditional, but the look is so very modern. The bright green dotted sashing is fun and adds a touch of whimsy that I just love. NeedleLove2 is multi-talented and offers many types of things in her shop, including quilted bags, felted bags, potholders, tablerunners, and even a pair of knitted wrist warmers and a beautiful crocheted afghan. Many lovely goodies that would make great gifts for your loved ones this holiday season.
